Renewal of Supervision Accreditation

Renewing annual accreditation as a supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) is a vital step in maintaining professional credibility and ensuring ongoing adherence to best practices.

This process underscores a supervisor's commitment to ethical standards, continuous professional development, and their invaluable role in supporting counsellors and psychotherapists. By renewing accreditation, supervisors remain connected to IACP's resources and community, fostering excellence and growth within their supervisory practice.

An Applicant must:

1. Have maintained accredited membership of IACP since Supervisor Accreditation.

2. Show examples of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) relevant to supervision (CPD 10 Hours annually out of 30 hours of CPD)

Examples of CPD for Accredited Supervisors include:
 - Attendance at the Supervisors’ Forum
 - Committee work related to Supervision
 - Courses/workshops or in-service training related to Supervision
 - Writing articles regarding Supervision
 - ACP online courses relevant to Supervision.

3. Have maintained both a Counselling and Supervision practice. Reference IACP Code of Ethics & Code of Ethics for Supervisors.

4. Submit a supervisor’s report(s) on your current supervision, signed by the current supervisor with whom the Applicant must have been in practice with.

If you have changed supervisor since last accreditation date you will be required to submit a Supervisor’s Report from each supervisor.

NOTE: It is required by the IACP that a Counsellor/Psychotherapist or a Student Counsellor/Psychotherapist should choose a Supervisor who is
